Sakura Sanctuary was created by Artist Abby Shalabi, who transformed the land into a living outdoor art space using recycled materials, creativity and a deep connection with nature.
Her vision is to create a place where art, sustainability and nature coexist in harmony.
Abby came from a totally different background, she grew up in the middle east (Abu Dhabi, Dubai), she traveled the world. She gained international degrees in business management and a master's in healthcare informatics. She worked at prestigious health care providers in Abu Dhabi and Dubai and had the exposure to work/ collaborate with international organizations such as the WHO and ICN.
In 2007, she felt the need for something completely new, different and exciting. She decided to move to Cape Town, South Africa, and 2014 she bought the land which became Sakura Sanctuary at the present.
